The Winmalee bush fires....hence no nail swatches.

Hi there everyone!

I have been a little AWOL for the past 2 weeks. There has been a lot going on where i live. most of you may have seen it on the news. You see I live in Winmalee Australia, and over the past 2 weeks we have had some pretty bad weather here including one of the worst bush fires ever for the blue mountains. A "perfect storm" with 120km pr hr winds and 38oC days caused a very bad bush fire where i live and took over 200 houses and damaged many more. As a small community of only 6500 people that is a lot of families who have lost everything. For us we were lucky. I evacuated with my 2 barnicles on the thursday of the fire starting after our neighbour down the roads front yard catching on fire due to the embers in the air. My hubby said we needed to go and he would protect our house. Which i am so glad, as what followed,if he had not been there i would not be on this PC blogging right now.

After we left to the evacuation centre, my hubby went around the back of our house only to find our back gutters on fire and the roof starting to go up in flames. His quick thinking and previous years in the rural fire service kicked in and he managed to get the fire out with only min. damage. We were very lucky indeed.
So with all this going on I have not really have much time to blog at all. here are a few pics i took of the smoke etc. not at all exciting but it was just amazing how quick the smoke came and all you could hear was fire sirens and helicopters overhead.

hubby on the roof wetting it down to stop embers catching the roof on fire again.
He was spending 12 hours a day up there in 38 oC heat to protect our house.

It is amazing tho in the communities time of need how everyone pulls together. just amazing. The donations have been fantastic for those who have lost their homes and everyone is helping out where they can.
i will be back tomorrow with swatches as life has calmed down now we have had rain and the fires are all under control.
What i have learnt is my fire evacuation plan works great and even my barnicles know what to do and do it quickly and without drama.

Celestial cosmetics 7 kingdoms review

Today i have to share with you the new seven kingdoms collection by celestial cosmetics

This collection is based on the popular Tv show Game of Thrones.I have a bunch of pics to share so let's get right to it!!!!!

Im going to show you my 2 favs up first from the collection that was sent to me for review.

A Lannister Always Pays His Debt Is a color change polish. This polish changes from yellow to orange.

I would describe the polish as a jelly with micro holographic glitter throughout. In the pics below i had a base coat and 3 coats of polish. no top coat. when i popped the polish on it turned to yellow almost straight away.this was im sure because it was a hot day and my hands were warm. I then dunked my hands in ice water to get the color change. once out of the water the color changed back to yellow very quickly. it was hard to capture the change as it changed so quick.

I reckon this polish will be great for winter as the clear definition will be seen with warm nail beds and gold nails. but for these shots ice water was needed. you can still see a VNL after 3 coats so maybe wearing undies would be a good idea :) yellow or white would be the best.

Overall i liked this polish because the color change was so different.

The next polish was my 100% fav from the collection i was given to review.

High Garden is an awesome shade of green/yellow/lime color change polish. This polish again had a very definite colour change. As soon as i put the polish on my nail it changed to a bright neon yellow/lime colour. it was weird seeing the polish which was green in the bottle go on bright yellow.

To get my colour change i placed my fingers into ice water. again i think this polish will be great in winter with the need for really cold to get a good shift in colour i cannot wait to show every one this polish!!! Along with the colour change this jelly is packed full of holo microglitter as well.

I used a base coat then 2 coats of polish there is a tiny VNL but a third coat would have fixed this.

The third polish that i have to share is called Iron Born This is a very subtle color change holographic polish. It changes from grey to pink.

As you can see from the bottle shot this polish is super holographic.i love the combo of holo and colour change in a polish. but with all these colour change polishes in this collection they are fairly thin so you will need 3 coats at least to get full coverage and no VNL. i used 3 coats for this polish with a base coat. with this polish the grey is the cold colour and the pink is the hot colour so you will get the grey on your tips when wearing this polish. very cool! as you can see from my pics it is a subtle colour change and is seen more so in the shade than the sun. these pics were taken in the sun apart from the pic with the 2 colours on the nail. this was in the shade so you could see the change better.

The next polish is called Little finger This is a purple to blue color changing polish. 

I love the color change with this one. it was clear and well defined. and i did not need to leave my hands in cold water for long. the polish naturally changed so my tips were a different colour to my nail beds.

I used 3 coats over a base coat for this swatch. and i had no VNL to see .

the last one i have to share is Arya stark. this is a pink to purple polish that is holographic.

Now this polish like a few of its friends took ice water to get the color change. so when the colder months are upon us it will be a better shift on the nail i think. This is a really nice polish but i don't get the pink to purple combo for arya stark. i mean she is a tom boy to say the least. she wants to fight with swords and not do any girly stuff. most of the colours in this collection really went well with the names but this is just an odd fit. but ignoring the name the polish is really pretty. I wore 3 coats over a base coat for my swatches and dunked my hands in cold ice water to get the purple to show.

Lacquer dreams halloween challenge- zombies

As i am a day late for most of these challenges, i figured ill do them all as day late!!! so todays lacquer dreams challenge is Zombies.

I have been waiting for this one and i did plants vs zombies for aussie nails monday the other wek but i really wanted to do a shaun of the dead mani. so now was my chance.

for any of you out their who have not seen Shaun of the dead....... get out from under that rock and go to the dvd shop and borrow it!!!!! THis epic film is the first of a trilogy of movies called the cornetto trilogy. there is Shaun of the dead.....

then the second of the 3 is Hot fuzz.......

and lastly which was released this year.....the worlds end......

All 3 of these movies are great unto them selves but if you are a fan like me you will pick up little things in all 3 that tie in together. its awesome the way they are written.

So back to shaun of the dead. 

This flick is a zombie movie with a bit of comedy there are some awesome scenes in it for example when the characters have to pretend to be zombies......

And a funny fence scene which is actually in all 3 movies in different ways!

and you cannot forget the zombies.......

So my mani??

On my pinkie i have OPI my vampire is buff with a stamped image of zombie hands from bundle monsters holiday plates. i used Picture polish camo for the stamping and Zoya elisa for the blood.

My ring finger was painted with Ulta3 lily white then with a marker i drew the image of shauns shirt and then using Zoya elisa i painted the tie etc.

My middle finger is picture polish Camo, with the trees painted with OPI my vampire is buff and finally the "i got wood"words are written in Ulta3 Tangerine tango.

My index finger is Ulta3 lily white and blood splatter is Zoya elisa

and my thumb is Ulta3 lily white with a decal i made on the PC

So there you have it!

A wave of polish...charity auction for infant loss

Today i'm writing about a very special auction and cause.

SANDS is an organization which helps people who have lost an infant and the research to find out why this happens and maybe even prevent infant loss. 

As one of my dear friends Theresa was one of these poor mothers to loose her daughter grace only hours after she was born prem i feel that the least i could do was share this fantastic cause with my readership.

Theresa has put together a fantastic charity polish auction called Wave of polish she has got together with indie polish makers from round the world and is auction off one of a kind pale pink and blue polishes to raise much needed funds for SANDS. you can check out the polishes HERE

Lacquer Dreams Halloween challenge - horror movie

Another day late ...again...i know!!!! but today i have to share with you all my nails of the theme Horror Movies. I went with a old classic....Dracula.

Throughout the ages Dracula has been seen as a scary monster/person. but but as the years have gone on vampires have become the trend but Dracula still gives me the chills sometimes when you watch the old black and white movies. Maybe it is the way its filmed?? but you cannot beat an old B&W film!

Dracula will be around for ever and im sure there will be a fair few more Draculas to come!!

Anyways.....my nails. I went a little bit simple. teeth ,bite mark that kind of thing :) but for a base on my nails i decided to make up a polish to use. so i popped on a base coat of Zoya Noot then over that painted on my franken polish. a combo of 2 chameleon pigments. one that goes green to red and the other that goes blue to green. 

Here are my undies.

Now i had the base on i hand painted the rest of the nails.

i did a french mani on my pinkie and index finger with Color Club holly and bright, my ring finger has Lynnderella öh Eric....."over a layer of CC holly and bright, my thumb was painted with Ulta3 Lily white and the rd is Zoya Elisa Lastly my middle finger was painted with a franken of Ulta3,Zoya Elissa, and a UV neon orange which made the skin colour. a dotting tool with Ulta3 black satin for the hole marks and some Zoya Elissa painted to make the blood dripping.

All in all i am quite happy with the way my main turned out.

Next up is Aussi nails monday and i cannot wait to do the Zombie mani again!!!!
