Nail art with gold leaf.

Hi there everyone! Today I have some cool gold and silver leaf to share with you.
I recently received from Born Pretty Store some little jars of gold and silver leaf. in the pack were a jar of silver and a jar of gold. the size was quite big and I think you could pretty much cover all 10 nails with one jar. here is what the leaf looked like.

I tried to unfold the gold leaf a best as I could to give you an idea of how big the pieces are. Each piece was approx 3 inches square which is a great size for the small price they are.
I decided to do a rough weathered look on my nails with both colours,so I painted my nails with OPI my dogsled is hybrid from the new Nordic Collection (2 coats +top coat) and then with some regular top coat.....NOT quick drying........I randomly popped rough streaks of polish over my nail. Then laid the gold foils over once the polish was tacky. Using a old paint brush (I used an old concealer brush) i pushed the gold leaf on and brushed away any unwanted leaf from my cuticles etc. I did each nail separately. Then once all the gold was randomly on my nails I went back and did the same with silver leaf.
Lastly I poped over a coat of Picture Polish Revolution. I used this particular polish which is actually a base coat polish because it is one of the very few polishes that will not wrinkle your foils/gold leaf. Once the revolution was dry I then popped over my normal top coat.

Here are the results.

The all over effect I really liked and it was very quick when you go the hang of the leaf and how delicate it is.

You can pick up the gold and silver leaf for only $2.29 over at Born Pretty Store and if you use the code CATG10 you will get a further 10% off and free postage worldwide.
If you like the new OPI colour My dogsled is hybrid head on over to David Jones where the new Nordic collection are Exclusive.

Until next time......

Shades of Phoenix Pretty Poisons Collection.

Hi there everyone! Today I have a new collection to share with you from the lovely Shades of Phoenix. This new collection is a little different from others that have been released. In the past Shades of Phoenix has been known for their pretty glitter bombs and jelly/glitter mixes, but this collection is a lovely combo of micro glitters with cremes and jellies.

The collection is called The Pretty Poisons Collection. There are six polishes in the collection, All the polishes are named after plants/potions that are deemed poisonous to people.
Lets have a look shall we...........

Foxglove- Is a pink creme with several different darker pink micro glitters through out. The formula was great and I only used 2 coats for full opacity. The colour has a slight purple hue to the colour which makes this colour lovely.

Belladonna- Is a beautiful purple almost metallic polish with tiny holographic micro glitters and a sprinkling of square holographic glitters. The polish only took 2 coats for full opacity. I think this one was my second favourite in the collection. I'm a sucker for purple at the best of times but I really liked the opacity of this polish and the finished effect on the nail. Plus was super sparkly and i'm such a magpie!

Hemlock- Is a green crelly polish with gold holographic micro glitters throughout. I used 3 coats to get full opacity. I did find this polish pulled a little when I popped on the second coat, but if you leave the polish to dry a little before painting the second coat there will not be any issue. I'm just impatient and it was cold when I swatched. The colour is really lovely and in the sun the micro glitters really catch the sun.

Mandrake- Is a brown crelly with a slight red hue to it. The polish also has a multitude of different coloured micro glitters I used 2 coats to get full opacity. I did find this polish was a little rough so I used a top coat of seche vite to smooth it out.

Monkshood- Is a cornflour blue creme with blue and yellow micro glitters and some slightly dark blue little squares. The polish took 2 coats for opacity. I used a top coat of Seche Vite to smooth out the finish. This is such a beautiful colour and is stunning IRL.

Wormwood- Is a beautiful orang/red polish with a golden shimmer and red micro glitter. Out of all the polishes, this was my favourite from the collection which I surprised myself as i'm not usually a red person but I loved this one. In the sun is sparkled so very much! I used 2 coats and a seche vite top coat.

Hi there everyone! It is Ulta3 anniversary! they have hit 100 shades of colour and what better way to celebrate than bring out a new collection of 10 beautiful cremes. I have them all here today to share with you.

All of the collection have amazing formula and several were one coaters.

Cloud Nine- Is a beautiful creamy beige. This polish was almost a one coater, but I put on 2 thin coats to ensure even coverage. This colour reminded me of a cross between OPI don't pretzel my buttons and OPI my vampire is buff.

Pop Art- Is a bright hot pink polish. It is not a new colour really but the formula was great and only 2 coats were needed. In the shade the colour appeared a lot darker than in the sun as you will see from the swatches.

Purple Primrose- Is a pretty fuchsia colour. This polish is slightly different in formula to the others in the collection as it has a slight shimmer throughout. I used 2 coats plus top coat.

Born Pretty Gem Review

Hi there Everyone!, it has been a week since my last post. I have been very slack, but kids have been still crook so today is the first chance I finally got to pop a post up! Fingers crossed no more sicky kids!!!!

I have to share with you today some lovely nail gems I received from the Born Pretty Store.
They came in a pack with 4 different size gems and all of them had a almost two tone shift on them.
I used several sizes to create the nail art on the featured nail. The other nails I used 3 different sized gems. They were easy to place. I just added them while my top coat was still tacky then placed another top coat over the gems. I used MckFresh Nail Attire Heart for my polish.

The gems can be found HERE and are $4.47 for the pack. If you the code CATG10 you will receive 10% off your order. Plus there is free world wide postage.
