Picture Polish Gravity swatches

Hi there everyone!
Today I have another limited Edition polish that Picture Polish released earlier this year.
The colour is a duochrome with their signature silver/holo flecks throughout the polish. Like all of Picture Polishes LE duos they released with this colour the formula is super thing so thin so you will need to layer it over black. I tried on one nail by itself but 6 coats later I still did not have the same effect that 3 coats did over black. So black base is a must.
The colour shifts from blue to navy to purple and even a slight bit of magenta/orange. I love the colour but I do have similar colours in other brands which formulas are better. tho saying that none of them have the fleck throughout so that is what makes gravity unique in my eyes.
Lets check out the pics.

As you can see the shift is super pretty.
Gravity is no longer available at Picture polish any more but I'm sure if you look you will find it on a blogsale somewhere with any luck.

Until next time......

Picture Polish Illusionist swatches

Hi there everyone! I have not been posting these past few weeks , and I am sorry my readers, but I promise there will be more and more great things to come soon.
Next month is my 40th birthday so I will be organizing a giveaway for that ! plus I have some exciting things in the works, which I will share soon.

Anyways, ATM my nails are in a real poor condition. My nails have never been the strongest and I was informed that IBX system would work wonders, so I forked out the $55 for the repair and IBX. I applied it as the instructions stated but within a day or so my nails had become brittle and all split and broke. *cries* So I have been sporting nubs. Bare with me and my swatches as my nails grow. But for today I am using swatches I did a little while ago when my nails were long and purtty!!!

Ok so Picture Polish Illusionist. This was a limited edition polish they released a few months back. it is a multichrome that shifts from purple/blue/teal/navy and has holo glitter/flake in it.
The polish is stunning but the formula is very thin, so you will need layer it over black polish/gel. I used 2 coats over a black gel. What i loved about layering over the gel was I seemed to be able to get a much better shift as you will see in the pics.

Picture Polish Solar Flare LE swatches

Hi there everyone! Today i have the Limited Edition Picture Polish Solar flare. This is a brown to gold to orange multichrome polish with ultra fine holo flakes throughout.
The polish is really thin in formula so it is really recommended to wear this polish over a black or dark base. If you wear by itself you will need a min of 5 coats and honestly you will not be able see the shift as well as when it is layered on black. I swatched 3 coats over plain black gel polish.

Picture polish is available over on their Website. you can still pick up solar flare for $13.50 while stocks last.

Until next time.....

Matte Top coat Showdown.

Hi there everyone!!!! today I am doing a Matte Top coat showdown. I have today 8 different Matte Top coats to share with you and see how they stack up to each other.

First up lets check out the Matte Top coats......

ESSIE MATTE ABOUT YOU RRP $17.95

OPI MATTE TOP COAT RRP $19.95

SALLY HANSEN BIG MATTE TOP COAT RRP $9.95

PICTURE POLISH G'DAY MATTE RRP $10.00

CULT NAILS WAX THAT RRP $12.00
MODE MATTE TOP COAT RRP $2.75

CELESTIAL COSMETICS MATTE TOP COAT RRP $7.50

DIY MATTE TOP COAT (1/4 t cornflour in 8ml polish base) RRP$0.00

All the swatches I did in this post are over 2 coats of Ulta3 Black satin.

Ok so lets get down to the matte top coats. Each matte TC I popped on 2 coats over the black nail. I have photographed them in sun and shade so you can get a good look at the effect each polish created.

Without a doubt from all these swatches OPI Matte Top Coat and Essie Matte About You are the best appearance wise. I would sway a little to the OPI as the formula was thinner than Essie and the brush was better quality. A close second to theses two was Picture Polish G'day matte. tho the formula of my one was a bit wishy washy and really I could have used 3 coats for overall effect. The next 2 which were very close was Sally Hansen big matte and Mode matte. the biggest difference was price. For $2.75 the Mode was great value for money but really thick formula and it did separate, but if your happy to give a bit of a shake that would be just fine. Saying that, the Sally Hansen big matte dried really quickly properly the quickest out of all the matte polishes I tried today, so If it was speed you are after Sally Hansen is the way to go.
Lastly the least matte polishes. The DIY matte was crap. I made it up as per the internet instruction, and although it did create a "matte"effect it was nothing like the other polishes. Cult nails and Celestial cosmetics were very similar. more of a wax effect which is quite nice ,but not nearly as matte as the OPI. That said I think you will find this with most indie matte top coats as i'm pretty sure most australian indies get their base from the same supplier.
Its funny the Celestial cosmetic Matte top coat I thought was quite matte as well as the cult nails, but when you compare them with other brands they look totally different. I like the subtly of the wax look but for a pure matte effect my money is on the OPI or Essie.

I hope to acquire more matte top coats including the new Gel matte top coat by gelicious. so stay tuned for more comparisons.
If you can think of anything you would like comparing feel free to drop me a line via email or on the comments and I will see what I can do :)

for reference if you would like to purchase any of these matte top coats you can get them at the following places -

OPI- MYER and David Jones
Essie - Priceline
Sally Hansen- Priceline or Target

Aussie Nails Monday- Disney Theme

Hi there everyone!
Today is Aussie Nails Monday, and the theme is Disney. My daughter Zoe was excited about this theme and wanted me to do the movie Frozen. Personally I have not seen it,but both my girls watch it over and over and over......... you get the drift.....so I know most of the songs!
I was going to do the snowman Olaf, but a few other girls in Aussie Nails monday were doing him so I decided to do Elsa. She is the blonde one in the movie thats sings Let it Go.....see you can see I have no clue about the movie!! ill have to watch it at some point I'm sure!!!

So I hunted for some inspiration and found a pic I liked.

Then took my inspiration from that.
I used Picture Polish for the mani apart from one OPI called desperately seeking sequins, from the new Spotlight on Glitter Collection.

After messing about with a LOT of sponges and making my gradient, then stamping snowflakes using QA58 plate from the born Pretty store, I finally finished my mani. Then an added bonus was cause I used Picture Polish Instinct it now was UV reactive!!!!

Im super happy how it turned out! and even tho I wanted to do monster inc on my nails Zoe loves these so a winner all round!!!

You can pick up the Picture polishes I used HERE and the OPI polish from MYER. the stamping plate is from Born Pretty Store and make sure you use the code CATG10 for 10% off your order :)

Make sure you check out everyone else disney manis too!!!

Picture Polish Aurora... (Pic heavy).

Hi there everyone!
Today I have the NEW Picture Polish Aurora swatches to share with you.
First up let me just say this polish is now sold out. But Picture Polish will be re stocking it at the end of march so make sure you keep up with them by subscribing to their newsletter.

OK.... So I was waiting on my PC when this was released. and surprise my internet dropped out just before it was going live, so I had to use my phone to buy it. And it became a VERY expensive bottle of polish. I went over the little data I have in my phone and ended up with an extra charge of $25 to my phone bill just in the time it took me to order the polish. God knows what vodafone charge per kb but it must be A LOT!!!
When I received the polish along with the other LE I ordered. I swatched them on a wheel and I was really disappointed with them. They were really thin and, yes I know what your thinking...they need to go over black.... I know...... but they seemed even thinner than the Ozotics that I owned. :(
But I chose to give them a go as the swatches I had seen  were stunning.

So with all the pics I will be sharing with you today I used base coat, 1 coat of Ulta3 black satin (my go to black) and 3 thin coats of Aurora. I also made sure it was an overcast day when I took the pics as I find you get the best shift on those days.

The polish is amazing on. God knows why I ever doubted it! tho id love for it to be a bit more pigmented so I only have to do one or two coats max. But that's because I want to make it last LOL!!

So after taking these pics I thought oh! I need to stamp over this polish, so I grabbed my Messy Mansion MM21 and MM29 stamping plates and did a little stamping .

It just reminds me of dragons. Simply Stunning!!!

I will be sharing with you all the other polishes in this Limited Edition collection over the next week or so.
If you would like to purchase any Picture Polish check them out HERE. Their polishes retail from AUD$10.00 to $14.50 depending what ones you like. Plus don't forget you can check out their etailers for your closest place to purchase around the world.

Until next time.......
