OPI Hawaiian Collection Swatches and Review.

*Press Sample.

Hi there everyone! Today I have the new OPI Hawaiian Collection to share with you all.
This collection was released a little while back in the USA but only last month here in Oz. There are 12 colours in the collection and a good variety of colours. Formula was great with all of them, tho the bright green and blue were a little sheer and needed 3 coats rather than the usual 2 coats. Also the green and blue can be layered over black which i will share today also.
I have done some comparison swatches with other OPI colours looking for dupes and I will be sharing this in a separate post.

Lets check them out......

Lost my bikini in Molokini- This is a pretty purple creme. At first I thought it was similar to OPI Funky Donkey but when comparing them they are totally different, so a great addition to my OPI collection.

Hello Hawaii Ya?- Is a mauve creme with a slight shimmer through out. This colour only needed 2 coats. The thing I noticed that with this colour is in the shade it looks totally different than when its in the sun.

Do you Take Lei Away?  This is a beautiful pale creme colour, almost beige. 2 coats for full coverage, THis is a classic colour and great for any collection.

Is Mai Tai crooked? Is a peachy orange creme. It takes 2 coats for opacity. This colour is very similar to Where did suzis mango? but slightly different. I will be showing the comparison in a different post. I do love it tho, and anything that is even slightly different in colour I love!!!!

Pineapple have Peelings Too!-  Ok...... So this polish has become a little infamous!!! When OPI released the colour the nail world was a buzz with "OMG its sooo bad", "why would you mix glitter with this gold??" and a bunch of other comments. Now I dont know if OPI were crazy smart and by making this "polish"causes a huge buzz and get peoples attention with the new collection or it was just an accident and bad colour judgement. Well what ever it was all publicity is good publicity and I am sure many people brought the colour just to check out the colour!!!!
For me I was very curious when I received it. I actually like the gold colour! The gold by itself is actually really nice, and the glitters in a different colour would be great also. I would have liked to maybe see green glitters in the gold base? or green base with gold glitters. all said the polish does not look that bad on the nail and after I did some nail art on it I did not think it was that bad. Swatches were 2 coats by itself.

That's Hula-rious!- Is a pale minty green. It is more green than the original OPI Gargantuan Green Grape. Formula is great only 2 coats. I love how bright the colour is!!!! And glad to have it in my collection.

My Gecko does Tricks- Is a sheer bright green polish which has a slight duochrome finish which shifts from green to a gold red. The colour shift in the bottle is very apparent but on the nail is it very subtle.I layered 3 coats for full opacity. When layering one coat over black you can get a lot more colour shift this way.
This and the next colour were my favs from this collection!!!

This Color's Making Waves- This was my second fav colour. It is a blue metallic polish which is a little sheer but can be opaque in 3 coats. This also has tiny micro glitter which is like a redish colour. It was almost impossible to photograph, but on the nail IRL you can see it. The shift with this colour is from blue to a aqua turquoise. On the nail its hard to see the shift but over black it is more apparent.

I layered both of these past 2 colours over black. One layer of colour over the black base. This really showcases the shift I feel and in future I will be wearing both of these over black.

Suzi Shops and Island Hops- This is a pale pink creme. This application was great and was only 2 coats. If you want a great pink opaque creme this ones for you. I love this colour and its opaqueness.

Just Lanai-ing Around-  Is a dusty pink creme with a slight shimmer, I kind of felt this colour was a little old school for a bright hawaii theme tho the polish had excellent formula and it was almost a one coater. I think it is the shimmer that makes it an older looking polish. Saying that this would be a good work appropriate colour.

Aloha from OPI- Is an orangy red creme. It was nice to have a red in this collection that was a little different. The formula was great only 2 coats almost a one coater!!!! Its super bright and I love that!!!

Go with the Lave Flow- This colour was a pleasant surprise. It is a very similar colour to Aloha from OPI but with a shimmer of gold throughout. I love it and actually one coat over the plain red is pretty too. tho by itself 3 coats give it great depth.

The whole collection is a very good addition to the OPI family. A great range of colours and even the Pineapple have Peelings too..... *shudders* has its place in the collection.

You can purchase these pretties from Myer and David Jones and retail for AUD$19.95 each.

Until next time......
